FIRST LOVED SONG: Saint-Saëns’ “Danse Macabre”
THE BAND THAT OPENED THESE EARS: Charly Garcia!!!, also Judas Priest did something about it too, but Charly is my all time Rock Star
CAN PLAY:
THE SONG:
FAVORITE SONG AND BAND FROM COUNTRY OF BIRTH: Sed de Gol by Joe Vasconcelllos
PRIVATE-CHINA THEME: Inconciente Colectivo of Charly Garcia (by myself alone and walking) and jazz, any jazz song I think, specially John Coltrane’s , maybe “’round midnight” to say one
WISH TO SEE PLAYING LIVE: almost all of them, but to give and answer Led Zeppelin in the 70s, Jimmy Hendrix in the 60s, Joy Division in the 80s, somewhere around 50s-60s John Coltrane and Miles Davis together, Elvis in the 50s, Mozart way before, Mars Volta now
WHEN IS NOT ABOUT MUSIC IS ABOUT... life
RELATIONSHIP WITH DUCKS: it’s a long time I haven’t met one, but I lived with one once; he was very kind, we developed a good thing, we both enjoyed playing together, things got kind of sad when my mom decided to cook him, but I don’t really remember that, my grandma told me that story. I think they are beautiful and skillful, specially those living by the ocean, great swimmers!!! Now I’m writing about them, I’m thinking this maybe explain why I haven’t learn to cook duck yet. Well and yes, there’s a low moral in me when it comes to food, if it taste good I don’t see the problem. Besides being cute and good swimmers, they are very tasty too
FAVORITE SPICE: black pepper and vanilla

Mache digs Mondayjazz.com, a website that frees jazz for the people one Monday at a time.
This is DJ Mau Mau’s playlist, a set about music, parties, and dance, and about why they love each other.
Tian (formerly, The Honeys) are a seminal band on the Shanghai scene. They have some new creative rumblings these days and Mache caught up with them recently to detail their journey up until now.
“What We Learned From…” will be a new feature promoting bands who have come to Shanghai in association with the Expo. Now that all of our great venues are intact and countries are bringing their musical talent here to share, we thought it appropriate to document that process, week by week, country by country. This week we were invaded by Finland.
In which Mache infiltrates the Expo and buzzes around the city like a musical hummingbird, then crash lands onto her couch in a blaze of DVDs.
Herbie Hancock, the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, and Dee Dee Bridgewater on the Expo, on May 13th 2010.
